Introduction

Trivia Night Pro is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App"), web services, and related features.

Device Permissions

Our App may request certain device permissions. We use them only for the purposes described below and only when you choose to use the related features.

Camera and Photo Library

We may request access to your camera and/or photo library (media library) for the following optional features:

Team selfies: Participants may upload a team photo in the waiting room before a trivia night begins. This photo is displayed on the venue screen and stored to enhance the trivia experience.
Profile photo: You may set a profile photo or avatar in your account settings.
Venue logos: Moderators may upload venue logos when creating or managing trivia night locations.

Photos and images are chosen by you and uploaded only when you explicitly select them. We do not access your camera or photo library in the background. On some devices, selecting an image may involve the camera (e.g., to take a new photo); in that case, camera access is used solely for that purpose.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Authentication: We use Supabase Authentication. This includes your email address (if provided) and authentication tokens from third-party sign-in (Google, Apple, Facebook).
Profile: Username, screen name (optional), avatar/profile photo (optional), and user role (moderator, participant, or administrator).
Zip code: Optional zip code for "Find a Trivia Night" to show events within 50 miles of your area. We do not use device GPS or precise location.
Account activity: Login timestamps and login count for account management.

Trivia Night Data

When you create or participate in trivia nights, we collect:

Event information (name, date, time, venue/location)
Questions and answers you create or submit
Team information, team membership, and team photos (selfies) if uploaded
Gameplay scores and statistics

Venue Information

When moderators create or manage venues (e.g., for "Find a Trivia Night" or when scheduling an event), we collect:

Venue name, address, city, state, and zip code
Primary contact full name and primary contact email address
Optional venue logo, if uploaded

We use venue name, address, city, state, and zip code to list locations in the App so that players can see which venues have upcoming trivia nights. We never disclose the primary contact full name or primary contact email address anywhere in the App. That contact information is stored only for internal or administrative use (e.g., support or venue-related communications) and is not shown to players or other users.

Payment and Purchase Information

Moderators may purchase credit packs within the App. We use Apple (iOS) and Google Play (Android) in-app purchase systems. We receive purchase verification data (e.g., transaction ID, product ID) to grant credits. We do not store your payment card details; those are handled solely by Apple and Google.

Device Information

We may collect:

Device type and operating system
App version
Device identifiers (for authentication and fraud prevention)

Usage Data

We may collect information about how you use the App, including features accessed, errors, and performance data, to improve our services.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve our services
Authenticate your identity and manage your account
Enable trivia night creation and participation
Display venue names and addresses so players can see locations of upcoming trivia nights (primary contact name and email are never displayed)
Display team selfies, profile photos, and venue logos where you have chosen to share them
Calculate and display scores and leaderboards
Process credit purchases and grant credits to moderators
Find trivia nights near you (using zip code, when provided)
Respond to support requests
Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
Comply with legal obligations

Third-Party Services

Supabase

We use Supabase for:

Authentication: Secure user authentication and account management
Database: Storing trivia night data, questions, answers, user information, and team photos
Storage: Hosting user-uploaded images (avatars, team selfies, venue logos)

Apple and Google (In-App Purchases)

OpenAI

AI-powered answer scoring is used to grade trivia answers. Question and answer data is sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI's privacy policy: https://openai.com/privacy

ElevenLabs

Text-to-speech is used for virtual emcee narration. Trivia questions, answers, and virtual emcee banter are sent to ElevenLabs for voice synthesis. OAuth Providers

When you sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook, these providers share basic profile information (email, name) with us. We do not receive your password or full account access.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides:

Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
Encrypted data at rest
Row-level security policies to protect your data
Regular security audits and compliance certifications

While we implement security measures, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may delete your account at any time, which will remove your personal information and uploaded images, subject to legal retention requirements and backup retention periods.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of your personal data
Correction: Update or correct your information through the app settings
Deletion: Delete your account and associated data
Data Portability: Request your data in a portable format
Opt-Out: Disable certain features or revoke permissions (e.g., camera, photo library) through your device settings

Children's Privacy

While the intended audience is adults playing trivia at bars, restaurants, and fundraisers, all content is suitable for all ages. Our service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

International Users

Our services are primarily offered in the United States. If you access the App from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
